A pretty good idea that never materialized

Last year, FOX was planning an offshoot of American Idol. Instead of crooners, the masses would be weeding out president candidates. The winner'd get money to run against Bush and Kerry. Cheesy, but I loved the idea. It's democratic. Right now, the concept that anyone could be president is bull. Only rich people with fat rolodexes have a shot. But with that show, any very well-educated man/woman with great ideas and leadership traits would stand a chance, because they wouldn't have to pay for air time.

Too bad the idea apparently fell through. Perhaps in 2008?
